Who we are
Gist It is made by 10XT LIMITED (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy. Questions or requests: info@10xt.tech.
What happens to what you enter
Gist It explains, translates and suggests phrases with AI services. To do that, the content of a request has to leave your phone. This is the only reason it is sent, and only when you ask for something.
Text and photos → Anthropic (Claude)
Text you type, paste or share into the app, and photos you choose in See it, are sent through our server to Anthropic, whose Claude models produce the answer. Our server passes the request on and returns the answer; it does not store or log the content. Anthropic processes it under its commercial API terms and does not use it to train its models. See Anthropic's privacy policy.
Live speech (Online mode) → Soniox
When you turn on Online translation, audio from the microphone is streamed directly from your phone to Soniox, which turns speech into text and translates it in real time. Our server only issues the app a short-lived access key for each session; the audio never passes through it. Soniox processes real-time audio transiently: it doesn't store the audio or transcripts and doesn't use them to train its models. See Soniox's privacy policy.
Voice input → Apple
When you dictate with the microphone button, recognition is done by Apple's speech recognition service, under Apple's privacy policy. Reading phrases aloud happens on your device.
The microphone and photo library are used only after you allow them in iOS, and only when you start a recording or pick a photo. You can change these permissions any time in iOS Settings.
What stays on your iPhone
Your request history (including the answers), your study list, the audio recordings of Online sessions, a cache of recent translations and your settings are stored only on your device. We don't receive them. They are included in your iPhone backups like other app data. You can delete items in the app (swipe to delete in History, Clean up in Study, Clear cache in Settings), and deleting the app removes all of them. A study list you export goes only where you choose to send the file.
What we collect to run and improve the app
We use this information to provide the app's features, keep the service secure and prevent abuse, enforce the free plan, fix crashes and understand which features are worth improving. Under UK and EU data protection law, our legal basis is performing the service you asked for and our legitimate interest in running a secure, reliable app.
What we don't do
- We don't show ads and don't use the advertising identifier (IDFA), so there is no tracking request.
- We don't sell or rent personal data, and don't share it with data brokers.
- We don't build profiles of you, and analytics are not linked to your identity.
Service providers and transfers
We share data only with the providers named above (Anthropic, Soniox, Apple, Amplitude, Sentry and Amazon Web Services), each only for its stated purpose and under its own data protection terms. Some of them process data outside the UK and EEA, including in the United States. In that case the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK and EU law, such as the Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to restrict or object to its processing, or to receive it in a portable format. Email info@10xt.tech and we will reply within one month. Because we have no accounts, we hold very little that identifies you; most of your data lives on your iPhone, where you control it directly. You can also complain to your data protection authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
Gist It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them.
